Here's the 2nd Atlantis EP from end of 1965. The first EP was succesful, therefore the band got another chance from the State Record Company (MHV). This EP also there are 4 songs, and the structure of the EP same like the first: one Lennon-McCartney song, one classical cover song, one old western rock and roll, and one Rimskij Korsakov instrumental.
Look at the songs!
1. The EP starting the Beatles HIT song of 1964: it was the "Rock And Roll Music" , and released in 1964 in For Sale LP. Not the original Lennon-McCartney song, because written by Chuck Berry in the late 50s, but Chuck Berry went to prison in 1958, and when he came out in the 60s, every British band played his songs. The Beatles version is fast and cool, but the Atlantis Rock And Roll Music cover is not so good. The guitar sounds are not heavy, and the singer voice is too funny...
2. The second song is called: "Trubadúr Parafrázis" (meaning: Troubadour Paraphrase ), is the funny arrangement of the classical Verdi song. I found a cool archive music clip about this song from 1965:
3. The 3rd song is the best! Called: "What Do I Say?" from Ray Charles. The original song released in 1959, so it's a simple good old rock 'n' roll. I don't like the original Ray Charles version, but the Atlantis version is fucking cool! You have to listen it!
4.The fourth and the last song from this EP is also a instrumental song, and also from Rimskij Korsakov. Called: "Dongó" (meaning: Bumble Bee). Very good and very charming song, i like it.
I can't stand write anymore about this EP, i think, it was not their best EP, because the original line-up was replaced: the former guitarist, Radics and the drummer István Pintér left the band, and founded a new beat band, Atlantis Nr.2. The bass player Sankó must joined up to soldier.
The band line up during the second EP:
- Béla Némenyi - Lead vocals
- András Veszelinov- Drums
- Zoltán Beke - Bass.
- Sándor Boronkai - Guitar
- György Rozsnyói - Organ
